Stars shine at Helpmann Awards

TERRIBLE weather and bad traffic didn't stop the stars coming out in force for the annual Helpmann Awards.

Among the familiar faces to brave the heavy rain were Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin, who showed off a new pixie haircut.

Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom The Musical was up for several nods.

HELPMANNS SHOWCASING STAGE'S FINEST

THERE was something for everyone at the 14th annual Helpmann Awards. From Cate Blanchett's critically-acclaimed performance in the Sydney Theatre Company's The Maids, to Craig McLachlan in drag in the Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Australian Ballet's Chroma, it was an eclectic mix of winners for the awards that celebrate the country's top stage works and performers.
