A US news reporter has quit her job on live TV, outing herself as the owner of an Alaskan cannabis club and declaring "f**k it".
Charlo Greene was reporting for KTVA on the campaign to legalise marijuana in Alaska when she broke from her script to tell the audience: "Everything you heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalising marijuana here in Alaska."
"As for this job, not that I have a choice but, f — k it, I quit," Greene said, before exiting the set.
The Alaska Cannabis Club, for which Greene is president and CEO, does not distribute marijuana but acts to "connect medical marijuana cardholders in need to medical marijuana cardholders with green".
Her blindsided news anchor was left to fumble a startled apology. "We'll be right back. Pardon for us," she stammered awkwardly before continuing to report the story.
The station also later issued a public apology and announced they had "terminated the employee", although presumably they meant simply her employment.
Greene took the opportunity of her suddenly raised profile to launch a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo, in support of marijuana reform in Alaska and the United States.
"Imagine, if after Colorado and Washington have legalised recreational marijuana and are offering the rest of the world a positive outlook on what ending marijuana prohibition can do, Alaskan voters fail to continue moving our nation in the direction toward freedom and fairness," she wrote.

Greene, who has reported extensively on marijuana legalisation in the course of her job, plans to use her professional skills in the service of the campaign.
"Few people fighting for marijuana legalisation in Alaska are as media savvy, well-educated on the marijuana industry, passionate, professional and completely dedicated to passing this initiative as me, the only person in Alaska that has had the balls to face the injustice of Alaska's medical marijuana catch-22 and do something about it," she said.

Reactions were mixed on the Alaska Cannabis Club's Facebook page to Greene's surprise announcement, with some followers dismayed at her on-air profanity.
"Seems like it draws negative attention to the issue because of how immature it was handled," wrote Facebook user Jamie Parton. "I hope she didn't ruin some of your efforts."
