CHANNEL 9's biggest TV stars and shows will be under threat if the network goes into receivership, experts predict.
The salaries of all of Nine's talent - including major stars Liz Hayes, Karl Stefanovic, Tracy Grimshaw, and Sonia Kruger - would come under the microscope.
Even lesser names - including Farmer Wants a Wife host Natalie Gruzlewski and Funniest Home Videos' Shelley Craft - aren't safe.
"If Nine goes into receivership, all bets are off," Fusion Strategy's Steve Allen said.
"Everything would be under review. Stars can't take it for granted they will be on the same remuneration."
The pain won't stop there. Key programs could be at risk.
The Voice, 60 Minutes, and Big Brother are just some of the shows that would come under scrutiny.
All three shows are ratings hits but they are also expensive to produce.
The Voice reportedly cost Nine $30 million to make, including $1 million each for judges Seal, Joel Madden, Delta Goodrem and Keith Urban.
60 Minutes, with an estimated annual budget of $17 million, has already been the subject of pay cuts and pay freezes.
Lesser shows including Celebrity Apprentice Australia and Getaway would also have to justify their existence.
Any move to receivership could also impact Nine's international deals, affecting programs including The Big Bang Theory, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Mentalist.
"This will be about pragmatism, not show business," Mr Allen said.
"The contracts for stars and shows will need to make fiscal sense."
BBY analyst Mark McDonnell said network stars, staff and key programs could still be at risk even if receivership is avoided.
"In the event Nine's budgets are constrained by servicing a large debt load (Nine employees) will be under constant threat of being retrenched," he said.
